Occupational Health & Safety (Human Resources & Recruitment)Full timeMy client is seeking an experienced Manager of Workplace Health and Safety to drive safety strategy and foster a positive safety culture across this QLD state government department. Reporting to the Director of Health, Safety, and Wellbeing, you will play a crucial role in developing WHS policies, initiatives, and systems to improve outcomes, ensure compliance, and support a proactive safety environment.Key Responsibilities:Strategy & Implementation: Develop and lead the implementation of the department's WHS strategy, including related initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing WHS performance and strengthening our safety culture;Visible Leadership: Provide guidance and advice to your team of safety professionals, developing an effective operating rhythm, ensuring they have the capability and tools to perform their roles;System & Policy Management: Oversee continuous improvement and the implementation of the Safety Management System, ensuring alignment with legislative compliance and best practices;Risk & Compliance Management: Provide expert guidance on complex WHS issues, including risk management, investigations, training, and compliance reporting;Leadership Support: Offer specialised coaching and strategic advice to executives and managers on WHS duties and obligations, enhancing their capacity to manage safety risks effectively;Team Development: Support and guide the department's network of Trained Safety Advisors to ensure compliant, effective, and localised safety practices;Communication & Reporting: Prepare reports, briefs, and other WHS-related correspondence for senior leadership, advising on issues and progress.What You Bring:You will have a qualification in WHS or an aligned discipline, coupled with a strong background working in a leadership role. You will thrive in a highly complex environment where no two days are the same and be able to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and sub-departments.
