Our Branch Organisational Services supports, equips and helps guide Council to deliver the Brisbane Vision through centralised corporate services and a customer-focused approach. Within Organisational Services, the People and Culture branch providescore services and supportsinternal customers through human resource related processes and systems. This role is part of our Employee Wellbeingteam in People and Culture and supports our workers holistically from our wellness team, safety team, rehabilitation and occupational health team, and workers' compensation team. Ourcentralised modelgroups together our skilled people to deliver efficiencies for Council so resources can be focused on front-line services.
The Role Our Employee Wellbeing team have an exciting new role for a Workplace Health and Safety Internal Auditor and Management Review Lead to join our high performing team in delivering an essential role to keep all Council staff safe at work. This role will focus on:
auditing and reporting on existing safety systems and processes across the organisation's diverse branches within six divisions building and developing action plans with work areas that educate, promote and keep employees safe by creating robust practices and establishing a culture of safety awareness creating strong alignment between local work area safety systems to the corporate safety management system leading internal stakeholders on the journey to implement better safety processes and practices with long term quality assurance and follow-up leading Council's WHS Management Review process, including the relevant reporting to senior managementcreating strong relationships with stakeholders as a subject matter expert on safety deliveryAs the Lead for this essential Council function, the successful candidate will be required to deliver updates to senior stakeholders, including our Executive Management Team, which will include written reports and creating presentation decks that take our leaders through our strategy of achieving a Zero Harm environment. It is essential that the successful candidate is respectful and agile in how they work with others, a natural connector with exceptional communication skills, and passionate about working together to achieve outcomes.
To be successful you will have: extensive demonstrated experience in providing authoritative, professional, and strategic WHS advice to senior and line management and other key stakeholders, ensuring a strong client outcome focus.demonstrated experience in delivering WHS audit outcomes and performance reporting across a range of different work disciplines using strong research and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify trends and improvement opportunitieswell-developed planning and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to develop and manage risk-based audit programs and schedules to cover the risk and compliance requirements of the Organisational Zero Harm Management systemdemonstrated experience of developing positive and collaborative working relationships with clients, peers, and team members through high level communication, consultation, and negotiation skills. demonstrated exceptional teamwork skills to contribute to team direction, resolve conflicts, build stakeholder relationships and achieve agreed performance standards in order to contribute to a culture of performance excellenceC-Class drivers licensea minimum of a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or more advanced qualification in that field).Benefits of working for Council include: flexible working hours, and flexible arrangements free gym and wellness centre award winning superannuation fund generous leave provisions competitive salary.Benefits of working for Council:CLICK HERE
