Description About the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation More than just a football club, the Western Bulldogs has a long-standing history as the community club of the AFL. The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation is the club's community arm that utilises the trusted brand of our football club to deliver life-changing programs. At its core, the Foundation delivers demonstrated impact in the areas of health and wellbeing, youth leadership, cultural diversity, social inclusion, and community advocacy. Across Melbourne and Victoria's west, we reach over 20,000 community members each year, including direct capacity building for over 4,000 participants in our targeted programs. This critical work is underpinned by a whole of Club commitment that is strongly supported by all three levels of government and a range of corporate and community partners. Our programs are independently and academically evaluated to ensure we meet the ever-changing needs of our community, and we are always evolving our content and delivery methods to be best practice. Your contribution to the team includes: The role of the First Nations Youth Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of key Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF) programs including the Nallei Jerring Youth Leadership Program (in Footscray and Ballarat), Leaders of the Pack Programs, and School Workshops, along with community engagement across the organisation.
This role is also responsible for: Connecting First Nations community members and organisations into our core programs and supporting these community organisations through collaboration and communication. Providing support for the promotion and recruitment of other WB Community Foundation programs including the Youth Leadership Project, Daughters of the West, and Sons of the West. Developing and expanding relationships with the First Nations community leaders and local community organisations. Supporting the Western Bulldogs' Reconciliation Action Plan through participation in the RAP Working Group. Supporting the Western Bulldogs in engaging the community in Sir Doug Nichols Rd and AFLW Indigenous Rd. Coordination and delivery of the Nallei Jerring Program & delivery support of other WBCF Youth Programs. Coordinating and delivering of the Nallei Jerring Program across Footscray, Melton, and Ballarat. Leading the local promotion and registration of WBCF Nallei Jerring in all three areas. Building and maintaining key relationships with Program Delivery Partners, schools, students, volunteers, and other organisations in our areas. Coordination and delivery of School Workshops across the West of Melbourne. This is an Indigenous nominated position and the Western Bulldogs consider that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under sub-s 26(3) of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).
Skills and experience: Must have demonstrated experience and understanding of cultural norms in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities. Work experience within community development, youth work, health promotion, or similar fields. Understanding of the issues affecting relationships for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate this to engage stakeholders. Knowledge and experience in community development, social work, multicultural affairs, health promotion, or other health-related areas. Demonstrated high-level written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to use initiative, meet tight time frames, and work with limited supervision. Experience in social media, EDM, and web content creation would be advantageous. Community Development. Program Design. Public Speaking (Demonstrated the ability and confidence to facilitate sessions for young people). Hold a Victorian Working with Children Check.
