BUMA Australia provides a total mine service to Stanwell Corporation's Meandu Mine to deliver coal to the adjacent Tarong power station. We are responsible for both managing and operating the mine. Services provided include planning, drilling, overburden removal, coal mining, coal processing, rehabilitation, and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant. The project uses a combination of dragline and truck-and shovel operations. Meandu Mine currently has five working pits, with sufficient coal to fuel the stations until at least 2037. As our site Water Specialist, you will play a crucial role in promoting sustainable water management practices within our mining operations. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyse water data and develop strategies to optimise water usage and mitigate environmental impacts. Key Responsibilities Water Sampling, Monitoring and Analysis: Conduct regular water sampling in accordance with compliance and site obligations, with monitoring and assessment of water quality and trends via online systems. Analyse hydrogeological data to understand aquifer behaviour and trends. Provide data and interpretive reports. Manage specialist contractors and consultants to support compliance requirements. Water Resource Management: Develop and implement water management plans. Optimise water usage for mining activities while adhering to environmental regulations. Environmental Impact Assessment : Evaluate the impact of mining activities on local water resources. Propose mitigation measures to minimise adverse effects. Liaise with the Power Station environmental and community teams to access locations. Work closely with geologists, engineers, and environmental specialists. Provide technical expertise during mine planning and development. About You Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineer, Water, Hydrogeology, Geology, or related field. Proven experience within mining or heavy resource industries. Experience in hydrogeological assessments (desirable). Familiarity with open-cut mining techniques and water modelling.
