In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of waste management within the King Island Council.
This is an exciting opportunity to build a significant legacy, by advancing the waste management program on King Island.Key responsibilities include: Project Management: Lead waste management projects from planning to completion, ensuring they stay on budget and timeline.Facilities: Establish and manage a materials recovery facility, to enhance waste processing capabilities.Landfill Management: Implement a comprehensive landfill operations plan to ensure safe and compliant disposal practices.Recycling Program Implementation: Develop and manage effective recycling initiatives, educate the public, and track program success, tailored to the community's needs.Team Supervision: Manage a small team for kerbside and commercial collections, providing training, scheduling, and fostering a safe work environment.Compliance and Reporting: Ability to analyse data, ensure regulatory compliance, submit reports on recycling rates, landfill usage, and project updates, and implement improvements as needed.Community Engagement: Promote waste reduction, address inquiries, and encourage community involvement in recycling efforts.About You: Proven experience in waste management, with strong knowledge of waste reduction, recycling, and disposal practices, with the ability to design and implement effective waste programs.Strong Project Management skills in planning, executing, and overseeing waste management projects, ensuring they meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.Strong knowledge of waste recycling processes and materials recovery facility operations.Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal waste regulations to ensure all operations align with environmental and safety standards.Proven ability to motivate and lead a team, fostering a collaborative, accountable work environment.Excellent interpersonal skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.Tertiary or equivalent qualifications in Project Management, Environmental Science, Waste Management, or a related field, and/or extensive relevant experience is required.How to Apply:If you are a passionate leader with the technical expertise and a love for island life, we encourage you to apply.For a position description or to apply, please visit: mcarthur.com.au referencing job number J6424 in the Search bar.For a confidential conversation, please contact Danielle Jupp on or .Applications close: Monday 18th November 2024.
