Located in the Sydney office, the department will help enhance our group audit capability and help conduct the audit plan in a timely and precise manner.Internal Audit Department, Asia Pacific Division (IADAP) of SMBC is responsible for examining the overall internal control system including the effectiveness and efficiency of operations and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. IADAP conducts internal audits of the operations of all SMBC units and departments.This position will be responsible for:As Auditor-In-Charge, continuously monitor and evaluate the changes in the auditee's business environment and risk exposure, such as due to changes in organisation structure, regulatory requirements, system, etc.Conduct effective continuous auditing to contribute to the annual risk assessment and audit planning activities to enable effective audits.Lead and/or execute audits independently and efficiently, which includes audit planning, evaluating key controls, conducting audit testing, drafting reports, and following up on issues closure.Assess the Bank internal control environment to provide robust oversight of SMBC growing operations in the region.Suggest value-adding recommendations to Management for managing emerging issues or remediate identified weaknesses.Apply data analytics during the audit and/or continuous monitoring to assess the internal control environment.Establish and develop positive working relationship with Management of assigned Business Units for which candidate has been assigned risk assessment responsibility.Contribute to the annual risk assessment exercise by developing good understanding of business strategy, plans, products, processes performance, risks, and issues of the assigned Business Units.Perform continuous monitoring on assigned Business Units to keep abreast of evolving markets, regulatory, business, and operational changes to drive appropriate changes to audit plan and/or audit coverage.Participate in the team's strategic initiatives and projects as opportunities arise.To succeed in this role, you will have:CPA certified or equivalent of an internationally recognised accounting body.At least 8 years of audit experience in the banking industry with experience in leading audits.Work experience with a local major bank in Australia is a must.Familiar with execution of risk-based audit approach.Proficient in both spoken and written English.Good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.Good team player as well as able to work independently.Meticulous, disciplined, and self-motivated individual with the passion to pursue excellence.If you wish to apply for this position, please follow the prompts, or apply in confidence to Human Resources via email ******
