Summer Street Vet Clinic is seeking a fourthveterinarian to work in our rapidly growing 100% small animal practice inOrange, NSW, Australia.The practice was established in January 2007 buthas recently undergone extensive renovations and is well equipped with all theusual toys such as Idexx in-house lab, Digital X-ray, Ultrasound, IM3 dentalgear, orthopaedics, Vitavue Multiparameter monitor, etc.We are a busy clinic with an interesting andvaried caseload and lovely, devoted clients.
We aim to provide a happy, safeand fun work environment with an emphasis on high standards of care and a greatwork/life balance.
We have a great team of competent and friendly nurses andvets and whether your passion is medicine, surgery or both, we can accommodateyou.
Remuneration is well above the award and can benegotiated according to experience.
We alsooffer all the usual allowances, continuing education, etc.
For suitableapplicants wanting to make a permanent move to Orange, future partnershipopportunities will be considered.
SALARY and AWARD RATE Salary: e.g.
$75,000 - $130,000subject to experience
Award: Animal Care and Veterinary Services Award
Award Level/Salary Range: Veterinarian Level 2 –Veterinarian Level 4
POSITION OBJECTIVES To provide medical and surgicaltreatment and care for animals in the clinic
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Inspect and monitor the health and well-being of patientsin hospital and provide veterinary care when required.
• Conduct routine, emergency or orthopaedic surgeries asrequired
• Maintain appropriate manual and computerised records.
• Consult with clients to implement preventative programse.g.
vaccinations and help to educate them with respect to pet care.
• Any other duties as directed by "the senior vet"
ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
The occupant of the position works closely with and issupervised by the senior vet.
QUALIFICATIONS &EXPERIENCE
• A degree in veterinary science.
• Registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board ofNSW
• A minimum of 12 months experience in small animal and/ormixed animal practice.
• Sound understanding or ability to acquire understanding ofand commitment to OHS principles and practices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Ability to carry out the duties of a veterinarian.
• Capacity to convey knowledge, skill and experience to lessexperienced veterinary staff.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Exceptional writing skills, diligence and a high level ofaccuracy.
• High degree of motivation and demonstrated ability to workwell as part of a team, but also to work independently, with minimumsupervision when required
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise multiple tasksand meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to establish and maintain confidentiality
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
• A genuine interest in animal health, care and welfare
• Highly developed organisation skills.
• Honest and reliable, and willing to take direction.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Detailed conditions of employment are set out in theoccupant's letter of engagement, the award and any other document referred toin relevant industrial relations laws.
• Approval for overtime must be given by the senior vetprior to being worked.
• You may be required to work a roster that includes oneweekend day.
• You may be required to be on call from time to time.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS
• There is a possibility of exposure to infectiousorganisms, animal waste, allergens, chemical materials requiring Work HealthSafety Data Sheets, and vicious animals.
• You need to be willing to work occasional weekends andpublic holidays.
• You are expected to maintain a neat and well-groomedpersonal appearance.
• You are required to attend staff training sessions andstaff meetings and on occasion, you may be required to conduct the sessions.
• You must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a safeand healthy site environment for staff and clients
• You need to demonstrate cooperative work practices andcontribute to a positive culture.
• You will need to be physically able to clean and lift upto 20 kgs.
