Competent and experienced racehorse handling skills, able to trot up horses, able to lift and pack/unpack equipment (e.g., x-ray/scope/ultrasound) from the car.Base Salary (AUD): 34Country: AustraliaState:DescriptionAssist vet in mobile racetrack equine vet service based at Eagle Farm, Brisbane. Must be experienced with handling racehorses and able to confidently trot up horses and restrain horses for procedures. The position does involve some lifting of equipment (x-ray, ultrasound, scope) in and out of the car. Previous nursing or vet assistant experience is not required as training can be provided. Duties include assisting the vet either holding the horse or equipment for lameness exams, x-rays, ultrasound, respiratory scopes, and minor surgical procedures. Drawing up medications, scrubbing joints, stocking the car, and cleaning equipment.Candidate must be enthusiastic, have a good attitude and work ethic, easy-going, and flexible with work hours. Flexible for the right candidate but start time of 7 to 7:30 for a minimum of 2 hours to 5 hours Monday to Friday. May be longer hours on occasion.
