THE ROLE The primary purpose of the Vessel Operations Planner is to ensure that vessel operations are supported by effective and efficient planning processes to deliver resilient, safe and profitable business outcomes.
Specific Responsibilities Prepare discharge/load sequencing and plans for all PCC, RORO, break/bulk and general cargoes for all Qube operations within the Port of Port Kembla precinct. Liaising with AAT, Customer Central Planners, Cargo Superintendent and Port Agents. Assist the Operations Superintendent where required to coordinate the rostering of all operational labour at the site. Monitor, review and analyse the operational performance of vessel completions and make recommendations to Operational Management. Generate monthly reports pertaining to labour utilisation and stevedoring operations performance as required. Acting as a key point of contact for all payroll and leave queries. Assist Operations Superintendent and Operations Manager as required. Supporting other planning, operational deployments, Human Resources and Safety initiatives. Safety, Health & Environment Take reasonable care for your own safety and health and the safety of others. Follow all safety and health instructions as specified during induction. Use personal protective clothing or equipment provided by the company when applicable. Take good care and maintenance of company and client equipment. Report any situation at the workplace that you believe could constitute a hazard to any person and that you can't correct yourself. Report any injury or harm to health of which you are aware of that arises in the course of, or in connection with your work, however minor. Co-operate as necessary so that the company is able to carry out its HSE obligations. Co-operate with the rehabilitation program where required. Identify system shortcomings and opportunities for improvement. Be Prepared To Work Safely Report to duty in a fit state, free from fatigue the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment and operate plant equipment safely. Participate in consultation activities regarding matters affecting your health, safety and welfare. Participate in relevant HSE training and maintaining your HSE related competencies. Engage in Work only when in possession of required and current Certificates of Competence. Qualifications and Experience Essential Supervisory experience in the stevedoring or similar industry. Experience in high risk operating environments. Understanding of operational capabilities of machinery and lifting gear. Experience in regulated workplace environments. Computer skills – Excel, Word, Outlook. Desired Tertiary qualifications in logistics/related field. Key Competencies/Skills Team management and leadership. Problem solving ability. Negotiation skills. Communication skills. Focus on safety.
