Position: Retail Assistant Retail Assistants play a key role in helping with sales, merchandising and quality control.
They support the Store Manager in ensuring quality customer service on the shop floor or at point of sale, assisting in processing donations as well as maintaining the general appearance and upkeep of the store area.
Together, Retail Assistants foster a culture of inclusiveness and community spirit amongst the team, enhancing the customer experience in the store.
Key Responsibilities:Customer Service: Greet all customers warmly and provide guidance to the store's areas and inform of any specials.
Assist those who are donating items and clients seeking social support.Displays and Merchandising: Price items and ensure they are displayed attractively and safely.
Maintain clear thoroughfares and clean displays.Team Work: Assist the point of sale team and donation sorting team.
Participate in team meetings and celebrations.Safety: Adhere to safe work practices to ensure the safety of customers and team members.
Follow Salvation Army's child safe policies and keep areas tidy and clean.Qualifications and Skills:Experience in retail, sales and customer service preferred but not mandatory as volunteers receive on-the-job training.
Required to complete TSA mission volunteer induction, training and registration process.
Time Required & Commitment:As agreed with manager.
Development Opportunities:This role provides an opportunity to develop skills in retail practices, valuations of donations, sorting and stocking of shelves, and teamwork.
Volunteers will receive on-the-job training and support from experienced retail professionals and have access to professional development training.
