George Fisher Mine are currently seeking multiple skilled and experienced Mine Assistants, in the Fill & Services Department at George Fisher Mine. This position is residentially based in Mt Isa.
The Role
We are looking for experienced and skilled individuals to join us in the role of Mines Assistant within the Fill & Services Department. Reporting to the Fill & Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing support to the rostered Supervisor and assisting with the safe and efficient execution of the shift to achieve business KPI's. The Mines Assistant role is the position for upcoming Supervisors to gain new skills in leadership and mine plan delivery. The roster for this role is on a 7 on 7 off day and night continuous shift.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Assisting the Supervisor in developing a positive team culture in line with Glencore's values including mentoring and coaching to build employee role competency. Providing visible leadership and ensuring compliance to policies, standards, and procedures for the Fill & Services team. Supporting the Supervisor to execute the daily shift plan; communicating issues and delays that are going to affect overall productivity. Following safety practices and procedures when undertaking work. Actively participating in training and development activities. Identification of continuous improvement opportunities. Completing workplace observations/inspections and logging them in Bsafe. Communicating accurate and relevant information and insight to line management. Ensuring shift handover is successfully managed. Safety leadership across site and for the health and safety of the team. The successful candidate will possess:
3+ years underground mining experience (preferably with services and construction). Demonstrated understanding of Underground Operations. S1, S2, S3 Certificate. Basic level Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel). Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements for underground mining. A demonstrated history of reliability and punctuality. Willingness and ability to learn new processes. Excellent troubleshooting & problem-solving skills. Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail. Hold a current Australian Manual Licence. Good Communication Skills.
