The National Institute of Dramatic Art features a large range of performance venues, holding student productions, as well as internal and external events.
The Technical Operations Department draws upon a team of reliable, enthusiastic, and hardworking technicians to provide exceptional technical skills to the highest of their ability while delivering consistent and quality results. NIDA's Technicians are engaged to perform a variety of tasks within our theatres and education spaces across a large range of activities including, bump in and bump out of internal and external productions, operations of lighting and audio-visual equipment, operation of counterweight fly systems and client/venue supervision.
Other roles technicians perform throughout the year include repairs and maintenance, archival of productions and AV support.
A valid Working With Children Check for NSW is essential. Having one or being willing to get one before commencement of work and to support and implement NIDA's Child Safe Strategies is necessary to undertake this role.
Previous experience with at least one of the following is strongly desired:
Experience as a general technician in live performance activities including bump in and out. Experience with AV support for education and meeting room spaces Experience programming/operating ETC Eos Lighting Consoles Experience programming/operating dLive/SQ5 Audio Consoles & QLab Experience operating counterweight Fly Systems Experience on the installation and operation of Production Archives Experience Supervising Venues with external clients Experience in electronics fault finding, repair and maintenance (no live production experience required for this role) Holding a current and valid Forklift License Relevant qualifications in Rigging, electrical test and tag and electronic equipment maintenance is highly desirable.
