Job Summary: Providing underwriting support to the Commercial Underwriting department in Brisbane, whilst developing technical underwriting capabilities.
This role is part of a small start-up team. We are looking for a motivated, results driven, and customer focused self-starter. The ideal candidate is well organized, works well as an individual but takes and appreciates a collaborative approach and works well as part of a team when needed.
Job Duties: · Responsible for general underwriting functions including submission review, account research, pricing analysis, review of terms and conditions, preparation for client meetings, exposures and completion of underwriting worksheet.
· Preparation of quotes and invoices in the underwriting system as directed by underwriters.
· Timely processing of Policy/Endorsements onto the underwriting system.
· Perform extensive account analysis according to underwriting guidelines including thorough review of underwriting application/submission.
· Perform underwriting referrals with more senior underwriters / manager following account analysis.
· Maintenance of underwriting files in an orderly and consistent manner, including filing and scanning of underwriting documents.
· Stay current with respect to major market and industry issues and developments
· Correspond with brokers on all administrative issues, including premium collection; final contract value adjustments and outstanding underwriting information.
· Support the departmental Vice President by producing regular management Information and bespoke reports as required.
· Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: · Ideally, graduate-level individual with professional insurance qualification ACII (or equivalent), already obtained or willingness to study towards the qualification.
· Articulate with good communication and interpersonal skills required for liaison and relationship building with clients, brokers and internal stakeholders.
· Highly computer literate with an advanced level proficiency using an underwriting system and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Knowledge of Genius and Openbox would be a distinct advantage.
· Methodical approach to work, strong organization skills; capable of dealing with tight reporting deadlines and conflicting priorities.
· Good attention to detail and quantitative skills.
