With new mines, new equipment and a new energy across our business, there's never been a better time to join Westgold.About the opportunityDue to our recent merger and increased operational opportunities we are looking for an experienced Underground Manager to join our team. As a critical part of our site operations team, the Underground Manager is responsible for managing all facets of Underground mining activities. Working with all technical departments and our in-house mining team they will need to provide hands-on leadership and technical expertise to ensure production, cost and safety targets are met.The role includes:Demonstrate visible health and safety leadership, actively promoting safety, and demonstrating a personal commitment to safety.Encourage a good incident reporting culture, enforcing the importance, prompting reporting requirements, and ensuring that appropriate investigations occur following any incident.Providing visible safety leadership and driving productivity improvement initiatives.Maintaining a sound knowledge of all operational activities and costs.Mentoring, training and developing members of the Technical Services team.Preparation of operating plans, budgets, and capital expenditure proposals.Providing leadership to mining engineers and other staff in their day-to-day activities.Maintain a working relationship with the Superintendent/Foreman, and open lines of communication with the mining and maintenance personnel.Providing supervision and guidance to our in-house operational mining team.What do I need?WA First Class Mine Managers TicketTertiary qualification in Mining Engineering10+ years in a mining leadership roleCompetent in Mining Software (Deswik / Surpac)Proficient user of Microsoft SuiteBe passionate about developing and mentoring a teamAbility to plan and schedule safety parallel to mining physicals.Proven budgeting and cost control experienceStrong communication, organisational and time management skillsThe Westgold Offer:A permanent full-time position at a successful gold producer.Performance based bonusSite Allowance (if applicable)Group salary continuous insuranceA health and wellness allowanceHealth insurance discountA range of Family and Medical leave policies that includes IVF, surrogacy and adoption.Referral Bonus - bring your mates along!5 years' pro rata long service leaveSalary sacrifice optionsEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) that includes free confidential counselling, wellbeing services that includes financial advice.Our full list of benefits and why we are recognised as an Endorsed Employer for Women by Work 180 can be seen on the Work180 website.We appreciate that not everybody will tick every box for their next dream role but if you believe that you can bring the passion and drive to contribute to our operations, we encourage you to apply.Westgold is driven by our core values of Show Respect, Choose Safety and Deliver Value.
