Trustee / Non-Executive Director

Details of the offer

Navy Clearance Diver Trust – Sydney CBD NSWThe Navy Clearance Diver Trust (NCDT) is looking for someone with energy and enthusiasm to contribute to the growth and development of the Trust, and who has a strong commitment to community services. The preferred candidate will have skills and experience in the areas of legal, communications/media, fundraising, government grants, and industry partnerships. In particular, we're looking for someone who has skills in using social media and communication as part of promoting the aims of the organization. They should be able to think laterally, strategically, and contribute effectively to board discussions and decision-making.It would be advantageous for the successful person to have formal qualifications and/or previous experience as a non-executive director and/or trustee of other community-based or not-for-profit organizations, although it's not essential. The NCDT is a formal structure of 3 corporate entities. The original NCDT#1 is a Trust with individuals as Trustees, registered with ACNC, and needing to comply with all of those requirements. This is the reactive trust to support CDs who are already experiencing hardship. NCDT#2 is a Trust, also registered with ACNC, but it has a corporate Trustee, the Navy Clearance Diver Foundation Limited (NCDFL), and the Trustees of NCDT#1 are also the company directors of NCDFL. NCDT#2 aims to work with Clearance Divers to prevent them from getting into hardship. The corporate structure also allows us to apply for State and Federal Government Grants, as well as meet the governance requirements of some of the corporate partners we are currently bringing on.The NCDT meets around 8 times a year, with each meeting taking around 2 hours. All meetings are held online using Microsoft Teams towards the end of the day (Perth time) or in the evenings (East Coast time). It is expected that Trustees will spend at least 8 – 10 hours per month on Trust activities, typically in at least one of the Trust committees.
