Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking an experienced Treatment Supervisor to join the team. The Treatment Supervisor holds a pivotal position in ensuring reliable and high-quality drinking water is provided to our communities.
Responsibilities:
The Treatment Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operational and maintenance activities of our Council's water and sewer treatment plants, chemical dosing facilities, pump stations, reservoirs and associated infrastructure to ensure compliance with legislative and licensing requirements. This role also involves assisting with process design and optimization to design efficient treatment processes that effectively remove contaminants while minimizing resource use.
Duties:
Supervise and coordinate daily operations and monitoring of treatment facilities, ensuring effective performance and timely reporting of key operational metrics.
Plan and manage the operation of water and wastewater treatment plants to ensure adherence to Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and relevant license conditions, implementing quality control measures to enhance process reliability.
Provide technical advice and maintenance direction around water and waste-water treatment.
Evaluate and optimize treatment processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures to maintain the continuous operation of pump stations, reservoirs, and treatment plants, ensuring compliance with service standards and minimizing downtime.
Identify and address maintenance needs through data analysis and predictive maintenance strategies, implementing planned maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned outages and improve system reliability.
Address unplanned breakdowns promptly, employing troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Enforce safe work practices and provide training for staff, focusing on process safety management and regulatory compliance to achieve a zero-harm work environment.
Lead, motivate, and develop team members through training in process optimization and engineering principles to ensure high-quality service delivery and operational excellence.
Manage procurement of necessary goods and services for treatment operations, maintaining adequate stock levels. Assist in budget preparation and financial monitoring, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Utilize data analytics to assess operational performance, generate reports on process efficiency, and recommend improvements based on findings.
Participate in an on-call roster and be available for after-hours emergency response duties, ensuring readiness to address operational challenges.
Essential – Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
An AQF Certificate III in Treatment Operations or an AQF Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or similar is preferred.
Minimum of at least two (2) years of highly relevant work experience.
Demonstrated experience in waste and wastewater treatment mandatory.
Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of water and sewerage pump stations and raw water supply systems highly desirable.
Knowledge of relevant Local Government operations and legislative framework.
Time management, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient use of Microsoft suite programs.
General Construction Induction Card mandatory.
Current driver's licence.
