Council provides water services to approximately 18,000 people, servicing the Singleton township and a number of nearby rural areas and industrial customers.
In addition, Council has a considerable raw water system servicing mining and commercial customers.
Council provides sewerage treatment services to approximately 14,700 people in the urban footprint of Singleton community comprising of gravity system, numerous pump stations, a significant area of pressure sewer and a treatment plant.
ADD VALUE - THE ROLE The Treatment Operator is part of the Water and Sewer Treatment Team who deliver high quality drinking water and treated wastewater services.
In this role, the team are primarily responsible for the effective day-to-day operations of Councils water and sewer treatment plants, chemical dosing facilities, pump stations, reservoirs and associated infrastructure.
This is a hands-on role, and a typical day will include testing, data recording, inspections, maintenance, monitoring including remote monitoring and system control.
The Treatment Team work a rotating on-call roster including weekend overtime.
You will inspect, monitor and operate disinfection, pH correction, filtration, fluoridation equipment, sewage treatment systems according to Council's Drinking Water Management System, Environment Protection Licence and legislative requirements, including the use of online and mobile systems such as SCADA.
Your Demonstrated experience and / or ability to undertake water quality testing, monitoring and data analysis as relevant to water and sewage treatment plants will be complemented by a Certificate III Water Operations qualification, or willingness to obtain as supported under Council's Learning and Development Protocol.
It would be advantageous if you currently held, or can demonstrate a willingness and ability to obtain, through Council provided training, the following: Class MR drivers licence (or above) and the ability to tow a trailer NSW Health approved Fluoride Operator Certificate (Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies) Dangerous Goods Drivers Licence Confined Space Entry Certificate with Breathing Apparatus Safe Working at Heights certification and experience Dogman (spotters) certification and experience AQF3 Chemical Safety Certification WHS Construction Induction Card (White card) This position is offered on a  permanent, full-time  basis working  76  hours per fortnight on a team-based 9-day fortnight.
This position participates in the on-call roster.
Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 7 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of  $2804.68 - $3111.82 per fortnight consisting of: $2459.84 - $2766.98 base salary $37.84 Adverse Working Conditions allowance $322.54 to $357.86 superannuation (calculated at 11.5%) Market Allowance : $307 per fortnight Retention Allowance : $2,000 after 12 months service Additional up to $432 per weekwhen  on-call 11.5%  superannuation  and other award allowances in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
