Accounts and Client Services (ACS) is part of the Shared Services arm of CFO Command. Shared Services is responsible for proactively delivering shared services activities to the broader AFP. The purpose of this role is to provide Treasury functions, ensuring customer outcomes are met and are in compliance with relevant AFP and Australian Government policies, practices and statutory requirements.
Shared services is a multi-faceted branch and sits within the CFO command and directly contributes to AFP operation outcomes, providing support and enabling our people to deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment. Our objectives are:
Support our frontline by delivering high quality corporate and shared services to the AFP.Manage and implement business and system improvement to remove barriers, speed up decision making and increase efficiency.Engage and work closely with partners and internal and external stakeholders.Key duties of the position include: Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the Treasury unit.Delivering the agencies appropriation management function, including appropriation drawdowns, returns and monthly cash forecasting.Manage monthly reconciliations, clearing accounts and undertake monthly review of relevant general ledger accounts.Provide advice to wider agency network on Treasury, revenue, receipting and reconciliation issues.Promote the continuous improvement of team processes and ensure they are compliant with relevant legislation and Government policies.Maintaining professional working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including the Department of Finance and the Reserve Bank of Australia.You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
What will you do?

Reporting to the Team Lead, Accounts and Client Services, the Treasury lead is responsible for overseeing the Treasury and Financial Operations functions for Australian Federal Police including but not limited to:
Processing Treasury payment runs.Processing AMI upload.Daily monitoring and management of AFP domestic bank account balances.Monthly bank reconciliations.Preparing Monthly Reports.Preparation of appropriation drawdowns, returns and journals in CBMS.Monitoring and reporting on appropriation balances.EFT payments.Monthly GL reconciliations for relevant accounts.Cash account clearing and journal preparation.S74 returns to OPA.Essential Requirements You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.A sound knowledge of accounting principles, concepts, methods and practices in order to provide objective advice and resolve problems as they arise.Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Government Treasury environment.A sound working knowledge of SAP, CBMS and RBA data entry and reporting.Microsoft Excel.Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Recognised tertiary and/or professional accounting qualifications will be highly regarded but are not essential.Additional Information

This role is an AFP Band 5 role. This role is located in Canberra, ACT. Successful applicants must be willing to relocate to Canberra at own expense if not already located in ACT.
What does a day in the life of the Finance Officer - Treasury look like?

I will assist the Team Leader Accounts and Client Services to manage the day to day Treasury functions. This may involve but isn't limited to:
Professionally engage with AFP appointees.Process drawdowns, intercompany transfers, administered payments and receipts.Preparation of monthly domestic bank reconciliations.Preparation and parking of journals in SAP and CBMS.Daily monitoring of Domestic bank account balances and ensuring account balances are within agreed limits.Monthly cash forecasting and entry into CBMS.Monitoring of appropriation balances.What makes me successful in this role?
