This advertisement is to fill current vacancies and create a merit pool for future ongoing or non-ongoing vacancies arising over the next 12 months. What is the role? Accounts and Client Services (ACS) is part of the Shared Services arm of CFO Command. The purpose of this role is to provide Treasury functions, ensuring customer outcomes are met and are in compliance with relevant AFP and Australian Government policies, practices and statutory requirements.
Key duties of the position include:
Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the Treasury unit. Delivering the agency's appropriation management function, including appropriation drawdowns, returns and monthly cash forecasting. Manage monthly reconciliations, clearing accounts and undertake monthly review of relevant general ledger accounts. Provide advice to the wider agency network on Treasury, revenue, receipting and reconciliation issues. Promote the continuous improvement of team processes and ensure they are compliant with relevant legislation and Government policies. Maintain professional working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including the Department of Finance and the Reserve Bank of Australia. You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
What will you do? Reporting to the Team Lead, Accounts and Client Services, the Treasury lead is responsible for overseeing the Treasury and Financial Operations functions for the Australian Federal Police including but not limited to:
Processing Treasury payment runs. Processing AMI upload. Daily monitoring and management of AFP domestic bank account balances. Monthly bank reconciliations. Preparing Monthly Reports. Preparation of appropriation drawdowns, returns and journals in CBMS. Monitoring and reporting on appropriation balances. EFT payments. Monthly GL reconciliations for relevant accounts. Cash account clearing and journal preparation. S74 returns to OPA. Minimum Requirements: You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application. A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one. A sound knowledge of accounting principles, concepts, methods and practices in order to provide objective advice and resolve problems as they arise. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Government Treasury environment. A sound working knowledge of SAP, CBMS and RBA data entry and reporting. The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Recognised tertiary and/or professional accounting qualifications will be highly regarded but are not essential. Additional Information This role is an AFP Band 5 role located in Canberra, ACT. Successful applicants must be willing to relocate to Canberra at their own expense if not already located in ACT.
