This includes managing a team of cross-dock supervisors, fleet controllers, and operators as well as company PUD / local drivers, subcontractor drivers / carriers and the regional third-party transport distribution network and is accountable for key performance indicators related to on-time dispatch, labour utilisation, cost management, and safety.The role ensures compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation. The role will foster strong collaboration with internal stakeholders and serve as a focal point of contact for key accounts. The role will also support and drive continuous improvement initiatives.The role has overall accountability for ensuring the safe, efficient, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods.WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?Specifically, you will:Lead a team of fleet controllers, local drivers, subcontractor drivers/carriers, cross-dock supervisors, and operators, ensuring adherence to company policies and performance standards. Provide guidance, training, and support to optimise individual and team performance and efficiency.Oversee all transport-related operations, including resource allocation, scheduling, and route planning/optimisation to meet service level agreements and customer requirements. Monitor and maintain fleet performance, ensuring vehicles are well-maintained and compliant with safety regulations.Manage relationships with subcontractor drivers and carriers, ensuring adherence to service level expectations in close partnership with the CEVA procurement team.Establish and be accountable for key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure linehaul on-time dispatch, labour utilisation, driver performance, fleet utilisation, safety, and cross-dock cost management. Analyse data to identify trends, address challenges, and implement strategies to enhance operational effectiveness and cost-efficiency.Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation, maintaining a strong focus on safety throughout all operations. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address safety and compliance issues.Address operational challenges promptly, resolving conflicts and mitigating issues within the transport process.Be accountable for total purchased transportation spend (dependent on state) and contribute to the state's profit and loss (P&L) objectives related to transport operations.
