There are two supervisors in the Central Specimen Reception unit. The Supervisors work together to achieve both organisational and personal objectives. The supervisors undertake operational supervision of the work unit and lead staff, and the other oversees training, however the supervisors move between these duties as required. The number of direct reports this position is responsible for is up to 25 staff.The Training Supervisor in Central Specimen Reception, PAH – Pathology Queensland reports to the CSR Manager.
The successful candidate will work independently; provide high level of communication, discretion in the absence of decision makers in resolution of conflict with the ability to interact effectively with all staff, and patients within established guidelines.

Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.Demonstrated ability to effectively use computerised systems.Experience in pre-analytical processes and excellent troubleshooting abilities in a large and complex specimen reception unit.Demonstrated ability to arrange in-service training and continuing educational programs for Specimen Reception staff and delivery of training programs for changes in Standard Operating Procedures or equipment.Proven ability to manage time effectively in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.Ability to plan and prioritise to effectively manage the customer service function in alignment with the overall strategic plan of the Department.Qualifications, registrations and other requirements Nil mandatory qualifications are required for this role although a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or Certificate III Pathology or ability to gain this qualification is desirable.Central Specimen Reception delivers a 24-hour, 7-day service. In this workplace, all newly appointed staff can be contracted to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required. This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements in the laboratory to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.Candidate will be required to underake frequent manual handling, bending and lifting.Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.We understand that some people may require adjustments to the workplace or the way the work is performed.
