Primary objective To provide high-level project support, administration and advice in relation to the maintenance, ongoing improvement and promotion of the Department of Corporate and Digital Development's (DCDD) Work Health and Safety (WHS) management arrangements.
Context statement The WHS Manager is the first point of contact for managers and staff on WHS issues and is capable of providing both generalist and specialist advice relating to work health and safety and interventions where required that provide benefit at both the department and business unit level.
Key duties and responsibilities Develop and implement DCDD's WHS management system and provide continual improvement of systems that support and facilitate DCDD meeting formal compliance requirements prescribed by WHS legislation. Manage, contribute to and undertake emergency planning activities to ensure the achievement of effective across agency governance. Provide expert advice and support on WHS matters to managers and staff to support the achievement of strategy outcomes and legislative framework. Develop, implement and maintain WHS management system and intranet resources, as a central repository for information and reporting resources for WHS committees. Promote WHS policies, procedures and guidelines, including researching legislation and putting together information in a clear and concise manner for manager for DCDD employees to read and understand. Selection criteria Essential High-level demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation including the WHS (National Uniform Legislation) Act 2011. Well-developed knowledge and understanding of change management concepts and practices. Knowledge of the strategic and business planning frameworks and processes. Knowledge and experience in governance, with the ability to develop, manage and implement governance policy and practices. High-level communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to provide expert, authoritative advice and responsive client service. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders and represent the agency on interdepartmental forums. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, innovative and respectful. Desirable Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a relevant field.
