It provides the Supreme Court, Magistrates Court and ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) with registry, court support, forensic, corporate and strategic services. Please note, the nature of the organisation is such that staff may be exposed to sensitive material or information that may be confronting and culturally sensitive. The ACTCT provides support services and training to assist staff in being culturally aware, resilient, and safe in the workplace. ABOUT THE POSITION: The Assistant Director, Therapeutic and Client Services primary role is to ensure the delivery of all support services to the ACT Supreme Court, ACT Magistrates Court and the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) to minimise barriers for vulnerable witnesses to participation in judicial processes wherever possible. The role leads a team to ensure support to courts and tribunal users who require reasonable adjustments or adaptations in order to safely attend and participate in their court matters and manages the day-to-day operations of the Remote Witness Suites. As such, the attributes of the Assistant Director, Therapeutic and Client Services needs to be client centred, and practice within trauma informed frameworks. The person requires exceptional coordination and liaison skill, to build and maintain important stakeholder and client relationships. The person will also be experienced in communications and technologies, as this position also supports and oversees the recording, storage and editing of digitally recorded video evidence, across both the Magistrates and Supreme Courts. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra (act.gov.au) Computer literacy skills are relevant to this role as you will use several computer software programs to undertake the tasks of this role. To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa. If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National Criminal History check. This position does not require a pre-employment medical. Note: This position is a client facing role that supports vulnerable court users. You may be exposed to sensitive or traumatic situations and material. This position edits and manages court recorded evidence where witnesses of family violence, serious violence offences and sexual offences give evidence during trial. This includes evidence provided by both children and adults. Due to the operational requirements, hybrid working arrangements are not suitable for this position. This position is a client facing role that supports vulnerable court users. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
