This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to engage in research to achieve national recognition in rural health research by developing a body of research that progresses an evidence-base in rural health issues and supports the rural health agenda of Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH).
The position will lead and support research into rural health workforce development; rural training strategies; innovative rural health service delivery models to enable the provision of health services to meet community needs; and improving the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Key Responsibilities Oversee the development of a body of research that progresses an evidence-base in contemporary rural health issues and maintains and supports the rural health agenda with a particular focus on nursing, midwifery and allied health service delivery, education, professional practice, interprofessional education and collaborative practice and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes.Coordinate and implement clinical data recording and capture solutions into SQRH clinical activities and co-facilitate the development of multi-site data linkage.Collaborate closely with the SQRH Senior Research Fellow and team to support and enhance joint ventures, align project goals, and leverage combined expertise for the successful acquisition of funding and execution of research activities.Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students providing feedback, coaching, and professional development.Facilitate collaboration between the rural health research activities of The University of Queensland, the University of Southern Queensland, Darling Downs Health and South West Hospital and Health Service.Actively contribute as a member on relevant committees/groups relevant to the research agenda and activities of SQRH, its partners and stakeholders.Minimum Requirements Completion of a PhD in an area of health research.A growing profile in research in one or more of the following areas:Rural health workforce developmentRural health training strategiesImproving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander HealthInnovative rural health service delivery modelsHealth issues directly impacting rural communitiesA developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.An ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the research activities of SQRH at a university and wider community level, including with industry, government, professional bodies and community stakeholders.You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
