About the role This position collaborates with academics and professional colleagues to provide effective and efficient administrative and laboratory support for the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Reporting to the School Manager and Laboratory Manager, this role ensures adherence to policies, procedures and operational standards governing both administrative and laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities Prepare, set up and pack down the laboratory/teaching space and classroom materials for learning and teaching activities. Assist with the coordination, organisation, and preparation of resources needed for learning and teaching activities. Provide routine technical advice, support, and instruction, including demonstrating and using basic equipment. Assist in conducting experiments and/or setting up materials and equipment for various experiments and demonstrations. Conduct routine maintenance and servicing of equipment/workspaces. Maintain stock, including storage and handling of hazardous substances per University and legislative guidelines. Conduct routine risk assessments, reporting outcomes to the Laboratory Manager and escalate concerns as necessary. Monitor equipment loans to students, inspect outgoing and returned equipment to prevent damage and loss. Provide effective and efficient administrative support within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Coordinate meetings, prepare minutes and organise correspondence. Work accurately with detailed information, including data entry, maintaining spreadsheets, managing correspondence and collating data for reports. Provide excellent customer service to students and University stakeholders, ensuring timely communication in response to queries. Qualifications, skills & experience Completion of a diploma level qualification, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated administrative experience, preferably in tertiary or other education sectors. Demonstrated competency in various software packages including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio), Adobe, In-Design, and timetabling programs (Allocate, Sonya). Highly developed communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with tact and discretion. Ability to exercise initiative and judgment as appropriate, and work in a flexible and dynamic environment with competing priorities to meet deadlines.
