Seeking the best suited applicant to join our hard-working friendly team of Health Professionals.
This role will perform a range of scientific, technical and related tasks within the Microbiology Laboratory using established techniques.
This position participates in a roster which covers evening shifts (16:15- 23:51 hrs Monday to Sunday) with weekend day shifts and occasional daytime weekday shifts as required by the department.
The Bacteriology Laboratory forms part of the Microbiology Division of the Central laboratory located on the RBWH campus.
Participation in quality management and quality assurance activities including internal and external quality control programs.
Key competencies (role specific criteria) You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following: Demonstrated knowledge appropriate to the position with emphasis on sound ability in techniques relevant to clinical microbiology.
Ability to follow instructions, and work conscientiously and accurately with minimum local supervision, with the ability to work alone.
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to work alone and co-operatively in a team environment.
A demonstrated commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement, and an understanding of the basis of laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs.
Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Medical Laboratory Science or a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in microbiology or an equivalent qualification.
