Are you an experienced mechanical and rigging professional with a passion for theatre?
The Star Gold Coast is looking for a Head Mechanist to join our team and provide crucial support for theatre projects during pre-production and run periods.
This role offers the opportunity to work in an exciting and evolving environment, collaborating with the Theatre & Audio-Visual Operations Manager, Technical Manager, and other hirers to ensure smooth operations and top-tier production standards.
A few of your responsibilities:
Oversee mechanical maintenance, repair, and stock management, ensuring smooth operation of rigging, fly systems, and set movement.
Supervise and roster mechanist team members for efficient load-in/load-out, and provide training to maintain production standards.
Implement and update Workplace Health & Safety policies, and advise on mechanical aspects of design and equipment upgrades.
What are we looking for:
Previous experience as a Head Mechanist working in a live theatre or concert environment, with a background in Rock and Roll or theatre highly regarded.
Intermediate Rigging ticket and EWP licence (required).
WH&S supervision experience, with Safety Officer's certification preferred.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and in a close-knit team environment.
Flexible availability to meet business needs, including weekends and public holidays.
