The Lucas Group is excited to present an exceptional opportunity for an entrepreneurial and proactive leader to step into the role of Executive Officer (EO) with a prominent non-profit farming systems group in Northern Victoria.
Our client is a well-established, farmer-led organisation dedicated to improving the profitability and sustainability of mixed farmers and croppers in the irrigation areas of northern Victoria and southern NSW. With a 23-year history of practical research, development, and extension activities, they are at the forefront of promoting best agriculture practices.
The Opportunity As the Executive Officer, you will:
Lead the daily operations of a dynamic, growing organisation Implement strategic initiatives to drive future success Collaborate closely with the board, internal team, and external stakeholders Deliver high-quality programs for farmers Improve organisational resources and foster a culture of excellence
Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations and ensure organisational goals are met Develop and maintain strong relationships with government, universities, commercial companies, and other farming systems groups Manage a team of seven employees and long-term contractors Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements Drive positive change and lead the team through organizational growth
We're seeking a dynamic individual with: Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or proven industry experience Strong background in agriculture Exceptional people leadership skills Well-developed negotiation and project management abilities An outcomes-oriented, adaptable, and resilient approach The ability to work effectively in a fluid and dynamic environment A passion for enacting positive change and inspiring others This position provides the chance to make a real impact on farming practices and sustainability while working in a collaborative environment that embraces diverse external partnerships.
