We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, livestock-focused person to join this large, innovative, and progressive company as Assistant Manager on a Victorian farm. You will be responsible for working closely with the Area Manager to assist with the development and implementation of the overall Farm Plan and play a critical part in the future success of the farming enterprise.
The Role
Due to internal promotion, they require a new Assistant Manager to support the Area Manager and provide leadership and direction across the farm, which is in the productive south-western part of Victoria, being 16km north of Woolsthorpe, Vic. The property is currently running 10,000 composite ewes, 600 cows, and trade cattle spread across 2,800 hectares. The Assistant Manager will be dedicated to and take ownership in assisting with optimizing the enterprise as a key driver for productivity and profit for the overall business, you will achieve this with a hands-on work ethic. You will work with, mentor, and lead contractors and staff in the day-to-day operations of the livestock and pasture enterprises while operating within the companies' budgets, QA, and WH&S policies. Ultimately, you will thrive in and assist with the responsibility to drive the success of the property, working towards strategic goals, and watch the farming enterprise improve. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and will have demonstrated a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar middle management mixed farming role.
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of 5 years working within the industry (or similar), with at least 2 years served in a middle management role (such as Overseer/assistant manager, experienced farm hand, etc.) Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance to Management and employees with positive results. Strong leadership capabilities. A quality team of working dogs. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work with the Area manager to develop goals and plans for the enterprise. Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the Pasture Management. Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the Livestock Management Program. Ensure timely maintenance and servicing of vehicles and machinery as instructed. Ensure timely and accurate record keeping of farm activities as instructed. Assist the Area Manager with recruitment and training of staff. Ensure staff have been trained and inducted before completing new tasks. Encourage and demonstrate a safety-conscious culture and work environment.
