Temporary Program Manager

In the role of Temporary Program Manager, you will use your leadership and technical expertise to lead and manage functional project management services on the Barron River Bridge upgrade (BRB) and Kuranda Range Road safety and resilience upgrades (KRR), to ensure successful project delivery and completion in accordance with required timeframes, cost, quality, safety, community and stakeholder, environmental and service standards.

Some of your responsibilities will include: Lead and manage the project team, consultants, and contractors to ensure all members are appropriately skilled and utilised, and to ensure all deliverables, time and budgetary requirements are met. Investigate and resolve complex engineering and contract issues associated with the project to improve overall performance and ensure value for money. Manage, monitor and report on project progress against predetermined time, cost, and quality specifications. Prepare and deliver submissions and reports relating to planning, design and technical (including contract) issues and identify appropriate mitigation strategies to overcome problems or obstacles related to the project. Provide specialist advice to senior management on all aspects of the project and make technical presentations as required. Identify and harness the necessary internal and external expertise to deliver project requirements, including the selection, engagement and procurement of consultants and contractors. Promote a positive and productive project culture and manage development and implementation of the total project plan in relation to integration, human resources, scope, communication, time, risk, cost procurement and quality. Act as "Principal Representative's delegate" for the delivery contracts, if required, as defined and delegated at respective development/implementation phases. Capture shared project learnings, develop, and foster best practice technology and project management methodology within Transport and Main Roads. Establish and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders while leading and directing the development of staff in the areas of achievement, workforce and succession planning, budget and business planning processes. Experience in the design development, complex procurement, and construction of OnQ Type 1 infrastructure projects. Comply with the WH&S Act, Regulations and Department Policy. Mandatory qualifications and conditions: A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia. Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position. The employee may be required to mentor and supervise the work of non-RPEQs within the Project. Significant years of experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team to successfully deliver a large infrastructure project. Current holder of Class C driver's license. Criminal history screening will be conducted for the recommended person for this role. Must be eligible to work in Australia. Pre-employment check of serious discipline history for the recommended candidate(s) as a condition of employment.
