About the opportunity The Telecommunications Engineer will provide consultancy and design for the provision of the Operational Telecommunications Network, consisting of but not limited to ethernet, PDH, SDH, IP-MPLS technologies.
This role will provide technical expertise for the planning, management and development of Telecommunication networks across SA Power Networks assets.
The Telecommunications Engineer will: Develop telecommunications network topologies to satisfy performance objectives.
Provide consultancy and design for the provision of DC Power Systems within Substations and other Telecommunications sites.
This should include alternate energy solutions where appropriate.
Contribute to Telecommunications designs complying with Australian Regulations and Legislation, SAPN Standards, Australian standards and customer specifications.
Maintain familiarization of advances in Telecommunication services, devices and technologies.
Provide concept development and estimates for Regulated and Un-Regulated Projects.
Deliver Telecommunications project requirements to satisfy the business requirements.
Support and develop design standards and business processes.
About you Tertiary qualification in Telecommunications/Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Knowledge of ITU-T standards, statutory requirements relating to telecommunication installations.
Knowledge of industry best practice in LAN/WAN architecture and network administration of switches, routers and firewalls.
Demonstrated experience delivering and integrating IP and serial services with a modern IP-MPLS based network.
Knowledge of IP-MPLS, PDH, SDH and ethernet network principles.
Knowledge of Safety in Design principles.
Demonstrated experience in Telecommunications DC systems.
Current SA Drivers Licence.
ACMA Open Registration with endorsements (desirable).
