The RoleAARNet is seeking a high-performing and dedicated Construction Manager (Metro) to oversee the delivery of metropolitan & urban optical fibre construction projects.
The role will require you to manage and coordinate the civil construction activities of critical infrastructure projects that allow AARNet to successfully deliver the next generation of telecommunications network to Australia's academic and research sector.
Collaborating closely with multiple internal functions including Design, Field Teams, support staff and technical experts, your previous experience in project coordination will enable you to focus on delivering quality project outcomes.
Your construction industry knowledge and or experience will enable you to effectively manage multiple projects that range in size, complexity and location.
You will manage projects that are located across Australia from your base, with the opportunity to travel on occasion.
Your passion for project management, building and delivering construction projects along with a strong ability to think analytically and problem solve efficiently will be key to your success in this role.
ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the Civil Construction Team within the Infrastructure Development Group, you'll report directly to the General Manager of Construction.
Responsibilities in the role include:
Planning, organising, directing and coordinating the delivery of multiple fibre optic civil construction projects in metropolitan & urban areas across Australia, ensuring they meet design specifications and agreed project objectives.Overseeing the implementation of AARNet quality and safety management systems within your projects.Managing project volumes and delivering a range of projects that meet a variety of technical and timing requirements.Analysing project construction information and using construction methodologies to make effective project delivery decisions.Identifying, planning and implementing resolutions to construction challenges and/or presenting solution plans to your leader if you need to escalate challenges.Collaborating across internal teams to ensure the delivery of broader project tasks.Expertise, experience & qualificationsYou are an Australian citizen with a valid Australian Driver's License.You have a robust understanding of the civils construction industry (Telstra network knowledge preferred).You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.You have strong computer skills and are comfortable using a broad range of software including MS Word and Excel.You have strong organisation and planning skills.You have experience in construction Project Management (Additional qualifications or completed training courses in Project Management are a bonus).Conditions of EmploymentAARNet is committed to diversity and providing equal opportunity to all.
