The Design Systems and Engineering (DSE) Director leads our Civils Design and Systems Design teams, ensuring work meets the specific requirements outlined in the Project Alliance Agreement. This team has full accountability for technical compliance and achieving a fit for purpose railway.
The DSE Director is our design authority, investigating and resolving technical issues in a cost-effective way.
This role will assess change and issues through construction, testing and commissioning – with a key focus on safety, reliability and fit for purpose.
Technical design issues include: Civil infrastructure issues relating to design and construction Systems engineering and requirements management oversight Technical issues relating to rail systems and integration Matters relating to changes or to resolution of operational or maintenance procedures forming part of the Link Alliance response to the Minimum Requirements Technical impact assessments in support of the change process The role requires keeping an eye on the budget and spend for design and engineering, noting we are entering the systems phase of the project and construction is starting to slow down.
We are seeking an experienced Leader who has managed design through the testing and commissioning phase of a major rail project, with proven ability to influence and work constructively in a complex Alliance environment.
Qualifications and Experience: Degree qualified in Engineering or another equivalent discipline when combined with relevant experience.
20+ years' experience in delivery of railway systems or projects Minimum of 10+ years' senior leadership experience on a project of a similar scope and scale ($5.4 billion) Broad technical knowledge of railway technical issues and a solid grounding in operational practices Experience in resolution or arbitration of technical issues, chairing or being a member of specialist committees and/or senior executive management teams Package: The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary for a 12month+ fixed term contract + accommodation in Auckland for the duration of the contract.
