DroneShield (ASX:DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of world's most challenging technical problems in the Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion and distributed systems.
Working with high profile customers across militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and many others.
With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.
This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney.
There are approximately 200 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026.
Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.
About the role DroneShield is seeking a Technical Writer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, New South Wales.
The position will report to the head of the Project Delivery Team.
It represents a unique opportunity to produce written material in the technology space.
The role is primarily focused on drafting Sales proposals and technical documentation.
It represents an exceptional opportunity for a result-driven individual in a new niche but exploding market.
You will work collaboratively with developers, quality engineers, product managers, and usability experts to make the products easier to use.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Draft clear and persuasive sales proposals, including technical details, benefits, and pricing, tailored to the needs of potential clients Liaising with key internal stakeholders to identify and analyse documentation needs Reviewing and evaluating documents to ensure that they are fit for purpose Working with the engineering team, you will collaborate closely with engineers and technicians to ensure documentation is comprehensive and accurate, and meeting client requirements Experience creating, writing and editing high-quality technical documentation for a variety of audiences across multiple delivery methods, with experience in waterfall, agile etc Edit, proof-read, and produce written technical documentation such as user manuals and training materials The ability to absorb highly technical details and document these details in a way that can be easily understood Exceptional attention to detail Strong time management skills with the ability to respond to ad-hoc requests whilst maintaining high-quality standards Maintain version controls to ensure consistency, compliance, and accuracy of documentation Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Product Management, and Sales) to gather information and ensure technical accuracy and alignment with sales strategies Organise and maintain documentation repositories, ensuring version control and accessibility Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Conduct reviews and updates of documentation based on feedback and changes to products/services Assist in the development and implementation of documentation standards, processes, and guidelines.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills 2+ years proven experience copywriting ( in a Technology or Engineering related field preferred ) Demonstrated ability to draft effective sales proposals that meet business objectives and client needs Bachelor's degree in Writing, English, Communication, or related field, or equivalent practical experience Experience working in Agile development methodologies is a plus Ability to translate complex and technical information into clear, concise, and everyday language that internal and external stakeholders can understand Exceptional written skills and excellent communication skills Strong understanding of technical writing principles and best practices Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously Familiarity writing in American English (a plus) Australian Citizen and able to successfully obtain and maintain a minimum Baseline Security Clearance.
