This critical leadership role involves managing nine managers and a large team, overseeing operations, safety, and financial management.
Providing strategic and operational leadership for all technical and workshop services across the College.Leading and mentoring technical services staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, flexibility, and excellence.Ensuring compliance with work health and safety (WHS) standards, embedding a strong safety culture.Planning and implementing technical service changes, adapting to emerging trends in teaching and research.Developing and maintaining best-practice operational processes, focusing on continuous improvement and service delivery.Managing financial and resource allocations for technical services, including capital expenditure and budget forecasting.Ideally, you will have a strong leadership background in a technical or engineering environment encompassing operations, financial and WHS management.This continuing position is full time at a HEW9 Higher Education Level located at Callaghan Campus.
Minimum Requirements Proven expertise in the management of significant human and material resources; in addition to postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience.Extensive strategic, financial and leadership experience in managing a large functional technical unit in higher education or a similar complex environment.Ability to lead staff with exceptional interpersonal skills by empowering staff to meet high standards and delivery of targets whilst actively managing performance and KPIs to achieve positive outcomes.Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build relationships and an inter-disciplinary way of working.Exceptional analytical and conceptual skills, with proven ability to plan and lead significant projects and initiatives, adapt to new situations, develop creative solutions and embed continuous improvement processes for complex strategic and operational issues.Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and policies and experience in leading and driving health and safety compliance.Demonstrated knowledge of workplace obligations to, and experience in leading and cultivating workplace practices and behaviours that promote, support and maintain a safe, healthy, equitable, diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace, including responding appropriately to adverse accidents, incidents, behaviours, issues, reports and the like.The successful applicant must be willing to undertake a National Police Check.
