Aboriginal applicants will be granted priority consideration for this vacancy.Primary objective:The Technical Project Officer will be required to assist the Project Manager with solution planning, design, and delivery of the NT Schools Structured LAN Cabling Project.
This will include traveling to NT School sites to undertake inspections of the existing ICT Cabling Infrastructure and documenting accordingly to facilitate the production of a final design for the ICT cabling upgrade.Context statement:Digital Project Services (DPS) delivers very complex, high value, and high-risk ICT programs and multi-year digital transformation initiatives for core frontline services through an inter-agency collaborative approach.
Working closely with client Agencies, the team comprises public sector employees and contractors working together to deliver multiple streams of activity as programs are implemented.
The work environment is dynamic, fast-paced and results-driven with high expectations of superior service delivery.Key duties and responsibilities:Travel to school sites to inspect and document the existing ICT infrastructure, ensuring all relevant aspects are identified and recorded for the ICT cabling upgrade design.Schedule and coordinate site inspections with the School's ICT representative and encourage stakeholders to attend, ensuring their input on existing and future communication outlet needs.Create Visio floor plans for each school building and site layout, detailing both existing and proposed ICT cabling infrastructure for stakeholder review and approval.Present the proposed ICT cabling design to the school's representatives and Project Manager, gather feedback, and incorporate any necessary changes before final approval.Develop detailed tender documents using provided templates, and ensure they are reviewed and approved by the Project Manager before market release.Attend site visits with the Project Manager as needed to offer technical support during the contractor's scheduled site works.Selection criteria:Essential:Demonstrated experience in inspecting, documenting, and designing ICT cabling infrastructure, including the use of Visio for creating detailed floor plans and site layouts.Strong skills in preparing detailed written documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with provided templates and guidelines.Experience in scheduling and coordinating site inspections, managing timelines, and ensuring all project milestones are met.Ability to provide on-site technical support during contractor inspections, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and technical knowledge to assist with any issues that arise.Highly developed communication, consultation and negotiation skills with ability to influence across a wide range of stakeholders and build and sustain effective work relationships.Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest and innovative.Desirable:Experience and general familiarity with tools and systems such as JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint and/or ITIL industry certifications.Experience in a large program/project environment will be well regarded.Knowledge of structured cabling design.Tertiary qualifications in cabling/telecommunications or similar.Further information:The recommended applicant will be required to undergo a criminal history and Working with Children Clearance Notice prior to selection being confirmed.
