Job Description About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead - Data to join our Data and Insights team. This role is pivotal in leading the design, development, and implementation of our data solutions on Azure Cloud and Azure Databricks. This role is offered as a 2-year fixed term contract with possible extension or permanency.

Key Responsibilities:

As Technical Lead - Data for our Data Program, you will be responsible for:

Design and Development: Oversee the design and implementation of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data models on Azure Databricks, ensuring they align with business requirements and industry standards. Ensure the adoption of best practices in data engineering, including data quality, performance optimization, security, and compliance. Work closely with data architects to translate high-level architecture into actionable implementation plans. Implementation & Best Practices: Guide the team in implementing data solutions, ensuring they adhere to best practices and are scalable, reliable, and secure. Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and ensure the team follows best practices in version control, CI/CD, and DevOps for data engineering. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for data solutions to ensure high availability and quick issue resolution. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data architects, data modellers, analysts, and IT operations, to ensure seamless integration of data solutions. Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations to drive data-driven decision-making. Mentorship and Guidance: Mentor and guide data engineers and analysts, providing support and sharing best practices. Collaborate with stakeholders to define data architecture, establish best practices, and drive the strategic direction for data engineering projects. Act as the subject matter expert for Azure Cloud and Azure Databricks, staying current with the latest developments in the field. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in data engineering processes, tools, and methodologies. Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, encouraging the team to explore new tools, technologies, and approaches. Governance and Quality: Ensure data governance, security, and quality standards are maintained throughout the data lifecycle. Monitor and support data management initiatives, including those within specific environments like Microsoft Azure/Databricks. About you

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Azure technologies and be passionate about driving best practices, ensuring robust, scalable, and efficient data systems.

Knowledge and Experience: Extensive experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on Azure Cloud and Azure Databricks. Proven experience in leading and mentoring technical teams. Deep understanding of data architecture, data warehousing, data modelling, ETL processes, and big data technologies. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and Scala. Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and tools such as Azure DevOps or similar. Benefits of working for us:
