The AFP requires a specialist technical lead to provide subject matter expertise in the development, implementation, and on-going management of the AFP's Cloud Platforms across Amazon Webservices (AWS) and Private Cloud platforms.
To provide secure and scalable designs of the AFP's foundation platforms to other internal AFP stakeholders to understand the business needs and works in partnership with Enterprise Architecture and Cyber Security to ensure on-going security of the cloud platforms.
Take ownership of the cloud platform, develop future state roadmaps and drive adoption of cloud platforms across the business.
Technical Specialists provide expert consultancy within their area of specialism.
They develop and promote technical solutions which support the business requirements of the AFP, within their area of expertise.
A Technical Specialist role does not hold any leadership or financial delegations.
What will you do? Provide expertise and technical leadership in the design and implementation and development of roadmaps across Private and Public Cloud platforms.Demonstrate proficiency in the use of collaboration tools including Git, issue tracking and wikis.Document design and operating procedures for Private and Public Cloud platforms.Administer and troubleshoot Private and Public cloud platforms.Implement and manage security practices and processes (e.g.
Essential 8, Internet Security Manual) in line with best practice.Require a good understanding of automation process and tooling such as Ansible/Terraform.Provide systems deployment, configuration, installation and support of equipment in Private and Public Cloud platforms.Ensure implementation supports future delivery of Platform as-a-Service and Software as-a-Service.Identify and provide support to other teams across the AFP regarding the adoption of cloud-based services and best practices in relation to platform management.You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.Extensive experience leading the implementation and sustainment of VMware and Amazon Web Services cloud platforms.Experience with implementation and on-going operation of AWS Landing Zone Accelerator to facilitate a well governed secure cloud environment.Extensive experience in design and implementation of VMware SDDC technologies, including Aria Automation/Operations, vSphere & VSAN.Ability to identify opportunities for change and lead continuous improvement initiatives.Advanced experience with developing and managing team backlog and prioritisation and stakeholder negotiations.You are familiar with security concepts found in the ISM and the implementation of said concepts in a PROTECTED environment.You have a no-nonsense approach when participating in internal or external conversations and are able to communicate complex technical concepts, resolve issues and foster good relationships.Thorough knowledge of Agile methodologies, especially Scrum and DevOps, and the ability to effectively contribute to scrum teams consistent with scrum principles and values (including assisting the business in prioritising their business requirements or product backlog).You will be a hands-on and pragmatic leader with experience leading technical teams.Additional Information This position in an AFP Technical Specialist - Band 3 level.This role can be worked from any capital city in Australia but will report into the section based in Canberra, ACT.Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion At the AFP we value the different perspectives, approaches and lived experiences of our people, and recognise that our collective intelligence and diversity is what makes us stronger.
