We are seeking a skilled leader to mitigate risks associated with fire, pest and unauthorised use of the unallocated State Land we manage. This is an operational role focusing on planning, delivering and reporting on work programs along with contractor management. Working alongside a range of stakeholders to make the region safer for the community.
This role is diverse and will enable you to have a mix of office and field-based work, generally in areas between the North Burnett to the Fraser Coast region. Live in the area with Kgari on your doorstop or the Sunshine Coast and Bunya ranges a short drive away.

About the role:
As the Team Leader - State Land Management, you will lead and participate in the delivery of risk management activities including fire, pest plant and animal management and addressing unauthorised uses of Resources managed state land.
The role requires practical land management skills coupled with leadership, corporate governance and human resource management capabilities.
To be successful you will have: Experience in building and sustaining relationships that enable collaborative delivery of customer focused outcomes and a high standard of practice through governance and risk management practices.Possession of a current manual driver's licence is mandatory. The appointee will be required to drive on dirt roads and sand tracks in remote areas.The willingness and ability to travel to and overnight in rural locations on a regular basis. This may involve travel outside of normal hours and/or overnight accommodation away from the centre.A positive contribution to workplace equity and diversity in a bid to enrich our culture of respect and inclusion. The following capabilities are regarded as highly desirable: Hazard reduction burning including Fire Management Level I accreditation.Licence for commercial application of herbicides.Accreditation Levels I and II for chainsaw operations.Using digital devices and applications including Geographic Information Systems.
Applicants without the accreditations mentioned above will be required to obtain within 6 months of employment through formal training programs provided by the department.
