Working to protect the state's environment and heritage.Do you want to work in a supportive work environment, providing expert environmental advice to support planning and development outcomes in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven?Permanent/full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity.Office location - Queanbeyan/Flexible working supported.Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $134,445 to $148,168 + Super.Our Planning team is currently seeking to appoint a Team Leader Planning.In this role you will be part of a tight-knit team and take carriage on complex projects and engage with stakeholders. Projects will include renewable energy proposals, large-scale infrastructure projects including transmission lines, residential land supply matters, and biodiversity certification opportunities. This role provides technical advice and contributes to the delivery of biodiversity conservation, including advice that will inform environmental impact assessments, post approval biodiversity management plans, the exercise of regulatory functions, and the setting of conservation priorities. The role requires an understanding of the relevant planning and biodiversity legislation including the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, associated regulations, and the Biodiversity Assessment Method. As part of the role, you will provide timely, high-quality and accurate information to inform decision-making processes and undertake data analysis and related research on biodiversity conservation. It will be important to develop cooperative and productive working relationships, including representing DCCEEW at meetings ensuring that the corporate position is articulated consistently and appropriately.About YouDemonstrated capability in leadership, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration.High level experience in providing technical advice on a broad range of environmental matters including assessment pathways, policy guidance, and implementation of the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme.A top candidate would have experience in assessing biocertification applications, undertaking the NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method, and/or reviewing biodiversity development assessment reports.Key knowledge and experienceExtensive knowledge of the operational and strategic requirements for the successful delivery of statutory planning and development assessment activities in the context of current policy and legislative frameworks for biodiversity.Proven ability in influencing stakeholders to take action and deliver agreed outcomes.Proven ability to manage and analyse strategic and complex proposals to achieve priority conservation outcomes through the planning system.Current Drivers Licence.For more information read the full Role Description: Team Leader Planning.Who we areDCCEEW conserves and protects the state's natural environment.
