The roleWe have a need for a Team Leader to join the Sydney team on a 12 month fixed term basis to manage the Lease Administration team responsible for preparing and finalising formal lease and other transaction documents for our national portfolio of retail assets.
The Team Leader will manage a national team of Lease Administration Managers from issue of initial letters of offer and negotiation of non-commercial deal terms, through to finalisation of the end legal contract. The focus of the team is primarily to manage risk associated with these legal contracts and the compliance with internal policy - the Team leader is responsible for guiding the Lease Administration team, Leasing Executives, centre teams and external solicitors to deliver outcomes which are in the best interest of GPT.
What you will be doingManaging the Lease Administration team effectively - recruiting, developing and driving the performance of Lease Administration Managers, whilst fostering a culture of support, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.Establishing effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including solicitors, our retail partners, fund/investment managers and Joint Venture partners.Giving guidance and support on complex negotiations, interpretation and disputes, drafting of special conditions and offers/negotiations for complex and high value deals and support the team to ensure consistency in response.Managing and continually engaging with our external solicitors to ensure turnaround times and service deliverables are met and there is comprehensive communication of changes in relevant legislation that impact retail leasing.Maintaining a suite of precedent documents and ensuring compliance and consistency of delivery across the team with preparation of letters of offer and negotiated lease positions.Supporting large scale due diligence needs, when opportunities for divestment or acquisition of assets arise, managing lease and security reconciliations and review of critical information before import of data to management systems.Providing updates to management on team performance, status of key transactions and any changes to relevant legislation or documents and preparing and interpreting credit risk assessments to support the business.What makes you stand outYou would ideally be a people leader with significant experience in a comparable lease administration, legal or a retail administration focused role, with commercial acumen, drive and a passion for continual improvement.
You will need intimate knowledge of retail legislation across all jurisdictions nationally and understanding of basic contract principles and be able to deliver complex lease negotiations.
You will possess excellent communication skills to build effective relationships across various stakeholder groups and be able to influence others and drive decisions and change.
This role would suit a people leader with strong Retail Lease Administration experience ready to work for a leader in the industry.
