Aged & Disability Support (Community Services & Development) The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the support worker team, ensuring high-quality care and support is provided to participants in line with their individual care plans. This role is hands-on, providing leadership, guidance, and training to support workers, while also maintaining smooth operation of services within the respite house or other service locations. The Team Leader ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and NDIS standards.
Key Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and on-the-ground support to the team of support workers, ensuring the smooth delivery of services.Act as a mentor and coach to support workers, offering guidance, training, and development opportunities to enhance service quality.Monitor the performance of support workers, providing regular feedback and conducting informal performance reviews as needed.Lead by example, maintaining professionalism and high standards of care in all interactions with participants and staff.Roster Management Create and manage the shift roster for support workers, ensuring adequate staffing levels and appropriate skill coverage for all shifts.Adjust rosters as necessary in response to staffing changes, participant needs, or unexpected absences.Ensure roster compliance with workplace agreements, award rules, and organisational policies.Service Delivery & Participant Care Ensure support workers follow participant care plans, addressing individual needs, preferences, and goals.Promote a participant-centered approach, prioritising the health, safety, and wellbeing of each participant.Act as the first point of contact for support workers during shifts, providing direction and handling any issues or emergencies.Oversee the daily operation of the respite house, ensuring it is well-maintained, clean, and safe for participants and staff.Documentation & Compliance Ensure support workers complete all required documentation, including case notes, incident reports, and shift records, in a timely and accurate manner.Monitor the quality of case notes and reports, providing feedback and training to staff to maintain high standards of documentation.Ensure compliance with NDIS standards, organisational policies, and legal requirements in all aspects of service delivery.Training & Development Identify training needs within the support worker team and facilitate or organise relevant training programs.Provide on-the-job training and orientation for new support workers, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.Foster a continuous improvement culture by encouraging ongoing professional development among staff.Communication & Reporting Conduct regular team meetings to discuss participant care, service updates, and staff performance.Act as a liaison between support workers, participants, and the management team, ensuring clear and effective communication.Provide regular reports to the Directors or Operations Manager on team performance, participant care, and any operational issues.Key Selection Criteria Qualifications & Experience Certificate IV in Disability, Aged Care, or relevant qualification (or higher).Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within the disability, aged care, or community services sector.Experience working as a support worker or in a direct care role is highly desirable.Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide staff.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond to emergencies or unexpected issues in a calm and professional manner.Knowledge of NDIS and relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.Personal Attributes Compassionate, patient, and respectful of individual needs and preferences.Collaborative, team-oriented, and able to foster a positive working environment.Highly responsible and reliable, with a strong commitment to participant care.Other Requirements Current First Aid and CPR certification.Valid Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.Current driver's license and reliable transport.Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays if required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
