Science and Engineering Professional Band 4 Remuneration Package: $199,192 - $226,907 Position: System Control, Core Operations Type: Full-time, Ongoing vacancy in Darwin Power and Water Corporation is a Northern Territory Government (NTG) owned utility that operates across a geographic area of 1.3 million square kilometres and within a range of diverse environmental conditions, ranging from the arid dry of the central desert to the tropical monsoon of the top end.
The corporation generates, transmits and distributes electricity, supplies water, and wastewater treatment services across the Northern Territory (NT) for the benefit of residents, including remote and isolated Aboriginal communities and outstations.
We are looking for a Team Lead Outage Planning & Reporting to join our team, Operations Planning within System Control.
As the Team Lead Outage Planning & Reporting, you will play a pivotal role in the Northern Territory's transition to renewables.
Leading a diverse team of power system engineers, key responsibilities include overseeing the outage planning coordination and power system event reporting functions across the Northern Territory's three regulated networks: Darwin-Katherine, Tennant Creek, and Alice Springs Power Systems.
This role assists in ensuring that each regulated power system operates reliably, safely, and securely.
Key Stakeholders: Other Power and Water business units and system participants.
Core Duties Include: Provide expert power system engineering advice to the Outage Planning and Reporting Team to facilitate and guide the actions required to successfully meet operational planning requirements in line with the technical requirements of the Northern Territory power systems.
Ensure all planning, reporting, and risk assessment deliverables are achieved on time to a high quality with a focus on providing technical engineering supervision relevant to the Northern Territory power systems.
Assist the Operations Planning Manager in the development of the Operations Planning Team, including the development of team strategy, identification of development opportunities, provision of engineering mentorship to enhance System Control's engineering capability, and undertaking recruitment and procurement activities in line with Power and Water's requirements.
Manage a small team of engineers to deliver team outcomes in line with business unit strategic directives.
Engage with external industry stakeholders appropriately to maintain effective relationships while managing Power and Water's interests in reform activities.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in the operation of public consultation within a regulated industry, engaging multiple external participants.
They should possess a strong background in the electricity supply industry, power system configuration, optimisation, planning, and enhancement.
The candidate will also have proven skills in managing people, resolving personnel and industrial issues, and leading proactive cultural change.
