Unit/Division: Public and Aboriginal Health Division - Communicable Disease Control
This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment until 30/06/2026, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. Position Profile: The Department of Health is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our Data Systems and Support unit.
In the role of Team Lead Data Engineer, you will manage the data assets across the full data life cycle including data acquisition, curation, wrangling and storage, guiding team members to follow best practices for data security, data sharing, data linkages, data quality and integrity. Your key responsibilities will include:
Develop, support and maintain an analytical data infrastructure across the data lifecycle including data collection, transformation, quality, linkage and outputs.Design and implement computer code-based data solutions according to business definitions, technical specifications, data dictionary, and data mapping requirements.Develop and lead the delivery of data pipelines and data tools that enable the system manager to oversee all aspects of communicable disease surveillance.Proactively drive the vision for data engineering and data warehousing across various business functions and define and execute plans to achieve that vision.Lead data testing and quality assurance activities to maintain data integrity, identifying and explaining complex data quality issues via the design and implementation of automated testing functionality.Provide leadership, data engineering support, training and advice to team members, CDCD staff and other project teams to ensure achievement of key deliverables.Employee Benefits: In addition to the great salary, our employees enjoy an amazing range of benefits which may include (in line with operational requirements):
