Salary: Teacher, $78,397 - $113,568 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2021)
Ellenbrook Secondary College is seeking a permanent full-time Music Teacher position commencing Term 1, 2025 We are looking for a strong and passionate leader to appoint as Director of Music.
The Director of Music position includes 0.2FTE time release for administrative tasks as required for the Specialist Music program.
There may be scope for the successful applicant to negotiate a lower part-time fraction.

Ellenbrook Secondary College sets high academic, behavioural and personal standards for our students and boasts several specialist programs and extra-curricular activities that are endorsed and supported by the Department, College executive, staff, students and the very busy P&C committee.
These programs are entered through an application and /or audition process and are part of the timetabled curriculum for selected students.
Specialist Music is one of these programs which has been a highly successful and renowned program since its inception when the College opened.
With over 100 students from across the College currently enrolled in the program it continues to be a significant focus for our College.

The Director of Music will oversee the continued success of the Specialist Music program which has been running since the commencement of the College in 2007.
The successful applicant should have the leadership skills required for this task as well as a passion for secondary education and the desire to impart their skills and knowledge to adolescent students.
The successful applicant should have a comprehensive understanding of contemporary and general music, and ideally with a qualification to deliver a Certificate III in Music Industries a preferable requirement.
Students from Year 7 – 12 are involved in the Specialist Music program and engage in both curriculum and Instrumental lessons with their tutor.
In addition, there are students in the College that engage in General Music Performance classes in Year 9 and 10 who enjoy music without the specialised exposure to an instrument.
As such the successful applicant will have a broad knowledge of instrumental practice and be familiar with performance and preparation techniques for musicians of varying skill level.

As part of the program, the Director of Music will also be encouraged to engage in the development, and direction of music ensembles which occur before or after school.
To celebrate and promote the success of the program and our students, semesterly showcases are utilised to share with the college and community and our new Director of Music will be fundamental in the organisation and coordination of such events.
In addition, there are regular Arts events, competitions and opportunities for performances that too will require support and commitment and an effort to broaden the awareness of the students' achievements.

Applicants should have an excellent capacity to communicate clearly and concisely with staff, students and the community and be able to articulate a clear vision that complements and supports the College's excellent culture in teaching and learning.
You will ideally have previous success with teaching students Music in a secondary school at a General and ATAR level.
High-level knowledge of the curriculum area and the ability to work in a team environment is required.
The Director of Music role will also require the collaboration, coordination and support of the additional IMSS staff that work at the school for lessons and as part of the showcase performances and ensembles.
Excellent communication and administration skills will be required in this role to ensure that our Music program continues to grow and succeed as we transition to a new chapter for the College.
