Individual Education Plans are a key component of our practice.

Our school is located in the Burnie Central Business District, and we work with learners who have found it difficult to engage with mainstream education for various reasons.
Our aim is to reengage young people with learning, improve literacy and numeracy skills, and focus on the next step in the learning journey, whether that be a desire to return to mainstream education, pursue a TAFE/RTO pathway, or prepare for the workforce.If you are a teacher who celebrates inclusion, equity, and personalized learning, and are confident supporting young people (Grades 9 to 12) who may have encountered barriers to learning, this may be the teaching opportunity you have been waiting for!Core Workplace ObjectivesPreparation and delivery of programs in line with appropriate curriculum.Enhancing effectiveness in the classroom through improved teacher knowledge, practice, and professional engagement to achieve improved standards of teaching and learning.Ensuring the most effective use of time and resources in the delivery of classes aligned to students' individual learning and pathways plans.Promoting the school's alternative educational and strengths-based model to ensure student goals and personal outcomes are achieved with a focus on "Changing the Lives of Young People".Workplace Tasking & Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching duties are aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Key duties of the teacher may include but are not limited to:Writing curriculum that provides adjustments for students (this requires an understanding of TAS curricula; understanding of the TAS Curriculum F-10 will be highly regarded).Planning, writing, and delivering structured lessons that differentiate and personalise the learning for each student.Embedding best practice pedagogy into lesson plans to engage students.Working collaboratively in a small team to implement feedback.Embracing opportunities to participate in coaching and mentoring programs.Supporting students with a range of learning needs, including disabilities, behavioral disturbances, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, low levels of literacy/numeracy, and mental illness.
This includes personalising the learning for individual students pursuant to the levels of adjustment of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).Collaborating to write Individual Learning Plans for all students.Embedding the strategies from Individual Learning Plans in lessons to support the needs of the student.Providing timely and specific feedback to students to support learning growth (particularly through formative assessment practices).Assessing and reporting student achievement and progress.Behavior management (including an understanding of trauma-informed practice or a willingness to gain this knowledge).Building positive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries.Supporting students to experience success.Benefits of Indie:Attractive PBI Salary packaging is on offer through Maxxia.Uniform provided.Annual paid professional development and training with support and sufficient study time during work hours provided.15 days paid personal leave.Paid parental leave provisions.Company laptop and mobile phone provided.Access to an Employee Assistance Program.Locations all around Australia.Hours of Work:Level 12 – Level 18 (AWCC Enterprise Agreement 2022-2025) $95,593 - $123,690 + super based on training and experience.Indie School is a child-safe organisation.
