The School for Student Leadership (Trading as The Alpine School) is an exciting and unique year-nine specialist school.
The school has been operating for 24 years and more than 10,000 students have participated in that time both in Victoria and when an international operation was conducted in China from 2014-2019.
It currently consists of four campuses.All campuses are in regional Victoria and include Gnurad-Gundidj Campus, Noorat-Glenormiston.
Forty-five students live, learn, work, play, recreate and undertake adventures at the schools in a unique, highly supported leadership education program.
The school has modelled the educational program on an Experiential Education model, and at its core has a project/inquiry learning and social-enterprise focus.A highly developed curriculum, pedagogical, assessment, and reporting approach relates to the Victorian Curriculum F-10 Capabilities.
An extensive outdoor, environmental and adventure education program is an embedded part of the school learning program.
All students participate fully in this as it is an essential component of the character education aspect of leadership and experiential education.Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs.SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.
Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
