About the role Working within the Finance function and reporting to the Head of Tax & Procurement, the Tax Manager will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of Sportsbet's tax function.
In this newly created role, you will be responsible for managing wide ranging and complex tax issues, ensuring overall compliance with regulatory requirements, and offering strategic tax advice to stakeholders across internal functions such as Commercial, People & Culture, Legal and Risk and liaising with the broader Flutter Group Tax function.
Operating within a highly regulated industry and as one of Australia's Top 1000 taxpayers, you will be responsible for ensuring our tax strategy and compliance obligations are met and achieve business goals. This role demands a keen eye for detail, strategic thinking, sense of humour and a proactive approach to navigating the complexities of tax laws in a commercial manner.
Key Responsibilities may include: Tax Compliance: Prepare annual corporate tax return for review by external consultants and timely lodgement with the Australian Tax Office as well as Quarterly reporting for purposes of SEC reporting. Transfer Pricing: Implement transfer pricing policies and review supporting documentation in accordance with Australian legislation and global regulations. This includes managing local BEPS reporting obligations including the new Pillar 2.0 requirements and Local Files. Tax Consulting: Offer strategic advice on tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, and other business transactions to other divisions within Sportsbet and as a member of the Global Tax Function. Tax Controversy: Assist the Head of Tax & Procurement with defending positions during audits, combined assurance reviews and ad-hoc investigations initiated by Revenue Authorities. Regulatory Updates: Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations. Advise clients and internal teams on the impact of regulatory changes. Indirect Taxes: Oversee GST, FBT, withholding and PAYG instalment compliance activities in conjunction with the Financial Control team. This would include providing guidance on technical issues, lodgements and possible disputes. About You 5+ years of corporate tax experience (preferably earned at a Big 4 or large corporate) across a broad range of taxes Strong understanding of the Australian tax landscape including corporate income tax, tax accounting, transfer pricing and international tax, GST, FBT Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Law or similar Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and handle a diverse workload Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to build strong internal networks Ability to work independently in a fast-paced high energy environment The Perks We work hard and play hard, so along with a competitive salary and generous performance-based bonus, we will also provide you with:
