Summary/Objective
Reporting to the Tax Director and Partner of the CFO Ortho department, the Tax Manager I is responsible for serving as a leader in the Tax department and ensuring accurate and timely processing of tax returns for the Firm by completing a final review of all returns, a detail review of some returns, managing workflow, and assisting the Tax Director, Senior Tax Managers, and planning teams as needed.
Essential Functions
Manage the daily workflow of tasks for their assigned clientsComplete final review of all tax returns and detail reviews of some tax returns prior to sending to planning team and/or clientOversee assigned Tax Associates for teamProvide weekly updates to the Partner of the CFO Ortho department and/or Tax Director regarding overall performance
Responsibilities & Duties
Work closely with the Partner of the CFO Ortho department and/or Tax Director to prepare for each tax seasonWork closely with the Tax Seniors, Tax Director, and the Partner of the CFO Ortho department to address questions/concerns from the planning teamsPartner with Planners to ensure a seamless workflow between departmentsCreate and present tax training materials alongside Tax Manager II, Senior Tax Managers and Senior Tax Research ManagerWork closely with Senior Tax Research Manager, Tax Manager II and Senior Tax Managers to address research projects, staff training materials & staff training eventsMentor Tax Advisors on professional development within the tax departmentAct as an active participant in the recruiting process (review resumes and interview candidates)Log IRS and State correspondences; delegate accordingly to the proper department/personWork closely with Administrative Team to ensure the proper processing/releasing of Tax Returns and various tasksWork with Tax Onboarding team to ensure proper training is being provided

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Tax, or related fieldCPA or EA required8+ years' experience in public accounting or its equivalentThorough knowledge of tax lawsStrong communication, interpersonal and organizational skillsExperience managing a team strongly preferred
Travel
Limited to no overnight, out-of-state travel is expected for this position.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.?Upon management's approval, remote work may be allowed using firm-approved office equipment. Correspondence with coworkers may be in person or through virtual means.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing may be required.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed based on management's approval. The ability to work remotely is allowed based on management's approval.

CompensationMinimum: $100,000 - Maximum: $130,000
