The objective of this position is to contribute to the Court by co-ordinating proceedings in court and in chambers.

Period of Appointment
Fixed Term - ASAP until 15 August 2026
Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight.
Duties
Make proper accurate records of court proceeding using the Digital Recording System which includes typing verbatim in Court, ensuring timely and accurate records are kept, preparation of the Court's record of proceedings and thereafter circulation to parties.
Provide executive and administrative assistance to the Associate Judge including co-ordinating listings, diary management, liaison with practitioners on behalf of the Associate Judge, proofing judgments and decisions and other tasks of an administrative nature as directed by the Associate Judge.
Co-ordinate proceedings in court and in chambers including, obtaining authorities and performing formal procedural roles such as swearing witnesses.
Undertake legal research tasks as directed by the Associate Judge.
Act as Associate to the other Judges as and when required.
The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications, and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level.

Minimum Requirements
A law degree or substantial progress towards a degree.
Completion of the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course at the Centre for Legal Studies, Hobart, or, other practical legal training course approved by the Board of Legal Education.
Admitted as legal practitioner, or expect to be admitted in Tasmania in the year of application.
Applicants hold a full drivers licence.
